I can only give you general advice without seeing it. 1) Dont let it dry out or over water (wet soil will drown the roots - they need some air). 2) Shade from direct sunlight until the roots have established and they are able to get water and nutrients to the leafs. Best wishes and good luck.

Copper tap does work. But if you’re dealing with a longer slug like that, you need more layers of tape. Also, in agreeing with other comments, you should’ve left the slug a way out of the copper square so you could see if it at least preferred the non-copper path.

@@LearnHow2 Hmmm, thanks. I've been using physical barriers to deter slugs and snails so far. One simple solution is to place the plant pot on top of an upside down plant pot. That means twice as much time to catch them before any damage gets done. Another solution comes to mind, though I've not yet tried it,. . . the two tape method, combined with a repurposed solar garden light. The bulb removed and + and - terminals wired to each of the two copper bands. That's a harmless 1.5 volts. Might be just enough to deter slug from crossing. So far, I don't have enough of a slug issue to try this experiment.

@@LearnHow2 For a small patch a steam cleaner is feasible. I did it with my wooden fence, and it looks as new. I did not use a brush at all. It got even cleaner after a few days of drying, and they wood was really dirty. The cleaner that I have is a small steam cleaner for home use, and it works great. But I did have to refill it a couple of times. Some folks do not have a pressure washer but they might have a steam cleaner. So that gives an extra option. I would not buy a steam cleaner for that purpose, but if you already have one then it is a good option to use it for algae removal. A pressure washer is quicker. A steam cleaner uses much less water and it is not destructive for most materials, but it takes more time to clean because the nozzle is small. And I think that the energy consumption is pretty much the same. For some folks, for example homesteaders who live off grid it can make sense to save on water and to use a steam cleaner instead.

@@LearnHow2 yeah... to expand on why: they are not a 'heirloom' tomato. stores sell 'hybrid' tomatoes. hybrids are a combination of two varieties of tomato, typically one with good eating characteristics and one resistant to disease. the ones developed for commercial tomato growers are heavy bearers, and very resistant to the tomato diseases that are a problem where they are grown. that’s the advantage of hybrids. the disadvantage is, you can’t save seed. the seed does not grow and produce a plant like the one it came from. if it grows at all [many hybrids are sterile] it grows into a plant more like one of its grandparents. maybe with the potential to grow big yummy tomatoes, but so vulnerable to disease the plant will die before it really gets started at all. maybe it grows just fine, but produces a million tiny tomatoes just full of seeds. whatever it does, it won’t produce anything like the tomato you bought at the store.

I have carried out many of these tests to determine if the copper tape stops slugs and snail. In the majority off times the slug will move over tape. In a small majority of occasion the tape will stop slugs. I think that if there is a very slight static charge on the tape there will be a rejection. I stop slugs by having two rows of tape and a 6V battery connection, using four AA cels in a holder. Positive to one tape and negative to the other tape. This is for use in a polytunnel or a greenhouse. I use a 600mm by 600mm cover. It keeps delicate plants slug free prior to planting im their final position on the garden 100% effective.

Caused by a lack of calcium getting INTO THE FRUIT. It's an important distinction, because it can be caused by a calcium deficiency in the soil or impairment of the plant's ability to transport calcium from the ground to the fruit. Improper watering (particularly overwatering) is probably the most likely culprit relative to a lack of calcium. Sometimes adding additional calcium can help compensate for this issue, but not always.
